Our client trades within a wide range of products with main focus on chemicals and vegetable oils. Products are sourced worldwide mainly for African industries. The group has a very strong financial base and covers logistics and customs services in-house. They promote an atmosphere rich in entrepreneurial spirit, where ambitious people share ideas and take ownership in the success of their career and the company.


The successful candidate will grow existing customers, create new customers and maintain sales while increasing customer satisfaction. Based in Antwerp and travel regularly as needed.

Main tasks and responsibilities are:

Explore market potentials and Achieve sales growth

  • Establish sales strategy/tactics; obtain orders and establish new accounts; plan and organize daily work; visit and/or call existing and potential customers; analyze customer requirements, strategic plans and objectives; recommend solutions with the company’s products; keep management informed through regular activity reports and communications
  • Focus on customer retention and new business penetration (mainly Africa with possibility for expansion to other markets)

 Ensure customer service and satisfaction

  • Manage and monitor sales order process from data collection through order acceptance to delivery in a timely and professional manner; provide technical support to customers on complex orders; identify and resolve customer complaints
  • Develop a thorough understanding of customer’s business, mission, strategy, operational issues; advise customers on best product mixes to accomplish their objectives; recommend logistic and/or special considerations

Develop your company’s image and brand

  • Participate in related trade shows and conferences
  • Recommend changes in products, service and policy by evaluating product results and competitive developments
  • Provide ongoing information regarding market trends, issues and requests related to products
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner; participate in team sales calls, proposal development, pricing presentations, consultative selling techniques and order closing strategies


The ideal candidate can rely on:


  • Degree in economics, engineering or chemicals
  • Minimum 5 years trading experience ideally within vegetable oils and/or chemicals
  • Experience with business in an international context
  • Familiarity with the chemical industry and knowledge of chemicals
  • Fluent in English and French, knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese and/or Arabic are a plus
  • Sense of ownership, urgency and follow through with a focus on customer-driven results
  • Ability to work independently and proactively
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities based on business needs
